e-Bikes connect our metropolitan spaces and regional spaces via a network of tourist cycle and rail trails that reach beyond urban and state borders, allowing regions to be explored freely.
Founder of Blade e-Bikes, Brain Sinclair shares his views:
For nearly 45 years I have been involved in professional sport, 20 years as an elite athlete ( footballer) and on my retirement, as a coach (Manager). During this time, I have come to know one thing. Each of us has something in common, mobility and it is this mobility that ties us still.
However, the other thing we have in common and is just as common as mobility is a lack of mobility. And most certainly because of particular limitations. Whatever they may be. Funny thing though we are mobile but do not explore. We are eager to explore but remain immobile. Enter the ebike. The future of mobility and adventure.
So, whether we have had little or much involvement in riding bicycles our minds and bodies still need to be given an opportunity to explore the possibility of new adventures. Australia has geological food to offer the entire community and keep it healthy.
The unique feeling, and sense of awareness I have on an ebike is freedom, Freedom I feel wherever I am or wherever I am going. This freedom brings independence and a sense of self-value.
Quite often I wonder to myself. How do we deliver something to enrich and improve the pursuits of ebike riders across the community? What can be done to improve the adventure so completely immersed in these pastimes? From a vehicle perspective this is a work in progress state of affairs for us at Blade eBikes. Something we are continually engaged in. We strive to create the absolute best we can and will always improve our offer to the marketplace.
Whilst the ebike space will continue to develop and evolve producing many styles of ebikes, the most fluid part of the market will always be the part that never changes. The environment.
Great Southern Rail Trail
the Great Southern Rail Trail traverses the verdant South Gippsland hills, with dairy farms, wetlands, spectacular views of Wilsons Promontory and Corner Inlet, a wildlife corridor of remnant vegetation providing habitat for insects, reptiles, birds and mammals, geological features, interesting towns and villages.
The trail rolls 68km from Leongatha to Welshpool with plans to extend to Yarram making the journey 93km.
E-bike Spaces
In this Covid era the community are rediscovering their cities and reapplying their everyday mobility habits. This is naturally ideal for users with an ebike that they ride on a daily basis, but what does the urban ebike rider look like?
In my mind when discussing ebikes there are two distinct elements of the environment
- THE URBAN SPACE
- THE REGIONAL (country) SPACE
Now, let us explore this in more detail because each are unique but they each offer equal measures of one characteristic. Adventure! When I ride my Blade KII or Colt ebike I know that adventure lies in front of me. The functionality of the ebike is simple and clever giving me the ability to navigate the environment wherever I may be with a high level of comfort. This comfort factor is the single most affective element of the Blade ebikes.
The Urban Space
How can urban and rural areas learn from one another? What collaborations are necessary and to what degree is digital data vital in order to help us to develop services in the pandemic era and into the electric future?
EBIKE IMPACT
The urban rider relies on certainty and ease of mobility within a given space. Generally getting to and from the home and workplace. Here rest some simple and effective benefits because and there are two things that really impact the urban rider. Finance and health. Wow! How good is that?
Save me money and improve my health? Yes please, yes please!! Ok please explain.
Fact, commuters spend a lot of time immobile when travelling to and from their place of work and at the same time do truly little to improve their health…………and their bank balance. There is and could be an underlying reason for this. An ebike will erase some of the financial burden and most certainly credit the health ledger instantly, FACT!
Remember when you saved all that money and paid off that crippling loan. Resulting in considerable emotional freedom and a amazing feeling of achievement. Well, imagine you are in some way incapacitated and stuck in a rut unable to free yourself of, maybe a physical challenge or ongoing financial responsibility.
Owning an ebike will affect your life in a wonderful way. Creating an opportunity to engage the urban sprawl in a magical style. Easily, with no impediment and effortlessly. Going to work will no longer be a burden. Knowing every night, you can make the morning’s journey in a positive and life transforming manner will have a profound affect and create something quite amazing. INDEPENDENCE.
And this is TRUE. My life was actually redundant when my strokes happened, the ebike changed my world and it can change yours in a positive manner and in many ways. You will experience your environment and discover things you have actually never seen or taken for granted. If it does not call me and I will pay for your bike.
Kylie, a customer who bought our Urban City ebike 2 years ago, sent me an email and stated “ for the first time in 25 years I have been able to explore my own environments and discover things I didn’t even know existed and I am eternally grateful to Blade”.
Fabulous and true. How good is it that she was able to embrace her community and feel elated and discover the place she “lives in”? For the first time in 25 years. Sad but powerful! The fact she is discovering on a Blade ebike is irrelevant, the power is being on an ebike period! The delivery of independence came from the fact she felt for 20 years she could not ride any bike and now she can.
The burden she felt has been removed and replaced by something in reality money cannot buy. Freedom and independence. Embrace your urban habitat and explore in the knowledge that wherever you ride it will happen effortlessly. Your town or city is your backyard spend as much time in creating new adventures and improve your wellbeing. Oh and of course I suggest a Blade KII or Colt ebike because we have developed it specifically for the demands of the metropolitan areas. They fold seamlessly, travel well, are road legal, have power and comfort. But, above all they provide independence and offer adventures new.
The Regional Space
Australia flourishes in natural beauty. From the magnificent white drenched sandy beaches, the vast intimidating ranges, and the picturesque rail trails that all cling to the eastern seaboard. Sound tranquil? Well that is because it is. And in no uncertain terms.
Over the past 4 years or so I have been fortunate to have covered as much of the East Australian landscape as is as humanly possible. Yes, I know lucky son of a gun I am. My abode is metropolitan as Mt Panorama is Brock. Enjoying a scrumptious muesli breakfast at the Coffee Peddler in Gundagai after a 3-hour jump start from the Blue Mountains or revelling in the sunset on Cotton Tree Beach at Maroochydore with a chilled frothy, my constant companion has been my ebike and it is this that has created what I believe to be the most magical part of our journey. Regional Australia.
Over the coming weeks I will elaborate in much splendour the magnificence of some regional spaces that should be have a better interconnect between ebike urban and regional users in Australia.
So, as much as I reside in a gorgeous Urban space there is only one thing I crave. Regional space, the wonderful environment offered free of charge for my engagement and enjoyment.
You know, provincial Australia shouts to everybody but, not everybody can answer back or is likely to answer. Aboard an ebike we can explore regional spaces in a way never quite afforded before. And yes, I know the normal bicycle has been around to provide all of this and it will for the future. But, not in the way the ebike can. Your ebike will help you overcome any challenge likely to pop its head up and keep on doing so.
The adventure of experiencing the outdoors in this fashion aboard the ebike is immeasurable mentally and financially. Can I tell you, when you have ridden from Bairnsdale where the Eastern Rail Trail begins at the east bank of the Mitchell River to Orbost the one thing you can say is “quite simply majestic”?
Quite simply, whether you are in Toowoomba or the hills of Gundagai regional Australia will not disappoint you and it will not.
Many regions are switched on to cycle tourism and have been for some time.
Strategic cycling corridors are the arterials of any ebike network, they merge important destinations in metropolitan and regional spaces. We need to develop strategic cycling corridors for investment to deliver safer, more direct cycling into and across urban and regional spaces. We will work to provide not only ebikes for a strategic ebike network but, we will also provide the power needed to ensure that the network is provided a power grid necessary for a high-quality network of cycling infrastructure.
At the outset I stated the ebike space will continue to develop and evolve, and it will but the glue needed to hold both urban and regional spaces together is power and in this case. Battery power. This then is the challenge and one we at Blade have recently provided a solution for. Look for our blog coming soon on Infrastructure.
Urban or Regional does not really matter both provide the same outcomes.
